The Diamond Star (DA40-180) is a modern four-seater widely used both for pilot training and as a versatile cross-country touring machine. It is much more performant than its diesel-engine cousin and boasts the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. It, too, has a very good visibility in all directions from the canopy, and any pilot familiar with the DA20 will find the transition to the DA40 easy. New DA40-180 pilots will learn how to use the constant speed propeller, the autopilot and of course the G1000 — all features greatly appreciated by pilots wanting more performance and utility. Aviation Consumer (Jan-2012) revealed how the DA40 has by far been the safest aircraft type in its category!
